Gorse Hill Studios Culture Club Summer 2025

I lead facilitated a number of creative. sessions for Gorse Hill Studio’s Culture Club. This included a ‘Floating Jellyfish Lantern’ session, which taught children about the importance of preserving jellyfish as a vital part of the underwater ecosystem. They learnt how to make their own jellyfish lantern pet, and walked in a ‘Jellyfish lantern parade’.

I also facilitated a session around forging your own fantasy relic, which allowed participants to explore heritage-inspired design through wearable art by sculpting jewellery or artefacts that look like they belong in a mythical world. This allowed them to research into their own heritage and tell a story that was reflected in a imagined piece. The young people made a ring which was inherited from a sea goddess, a traditional Japanese fan charm, an Irish pocket mirror, a golden arch carved with the 10 commandments, and a Viking potion bowl.

I also facilitated a ‘Nature comes alive: Stop motion animation’ session, which taught children to foster creativity, storytelling, and collaboration through the medium of stop motion animation, while encouraging connection to nature through exploration and hands-on foraging.

Please see below the stills from the films, which include a story about a macaroon surfing on a leaf in space and a dinosaur who eats too much, explodes, and gets resurrected by a spider!
